True, and not something I considered before.

Part of what made the beach scenes in Jaws work so well was the contrast of the danger to the carefree atmosphere of the crowd. Considering how other movies have been directed, winter now seems obvious and too easy.

I think Burnt Offerings was also during summer. It definitely has potential. Oppressive weather can work as an extra layer to the tension.

I like the subject of horror in a summer setting. I just recently wrote about murders on vacation and how that same juxtaposition you’re talking about works so well in murder mysteries! I’m excited to read your work, glad I found you on here.

Love horror in any setting, each one brings out a different mood. I feel that summer horror shows that evil can happen even if the world is bright and cheery. I live in Japan and my Japanese wife told me--for why they tell lots of ghost stories then--is to feel the cold shivers of fear and cool down in the heat lol.
