I’m very excited to share that Waxwing Creek is out now in ebook (including Kindle Unlimited) and paperback. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a collection of interconnected horror stories about a haunted motel in a town called Hunt.
Here’s the blurb:
Built on the ruins of a house where a family was found murdered, Waxwing Creek’s legacy began with blood. From that moment, the motel has defined the town of Hunt, haunting owners, guests, and those who call it home.
With tales about a woman betting on bingo to save her life, a brother looking for justice in Hunt's dark and brutal underbelly, and a man calling on the supernatural to reunite lovers, Waxwing Creek is a collection of interconnected horror stories that uncover the motel’s most disturbing encounters.
They’re stories that examine desperation, morality, and what happens when people try to change something that should be left alone.
Here’s the cover, created by Matt Seff Barnes Art:
In the last few months these stories have gone out to reviewers and ARC readers and I’m grateful for the feedback (which you can mostly see on Goodreads).
I also want to reflect, for a moment, on life as an indie author.
Believing in something enough to share is tough. Throw in finding honest feedback, editing, designing, formatting, and the endless hole of marketing, and it can feel insurmountable.
Waxwing Creek is my second book and, while I applied a lot of learnings from mistakes I made with the first, it was as much (if not more) of an emotional whirlwind.
The part I find fascinating? No one’s forcing me to do this. No one’s telling me to write or publish. Life would probably be easier without it. Yet, I continue.
Why?
Because nothing beats the sensation of creating. Nothing fulfills the soul like a story figuring itself out. Nothing matches the satisfaction of writing something that could make you, or somebody else, feel something.
Waxwing Creek is available in ebook and paperback. If you enjoy it, amazing. If you don’t, no worries. There are plenty of other stories out there waiting for you.
