If the data attached to my first draft is telling the truth, I put the first words of Buried By Sunset to paper on January 21, 2021 at 9:34pm. If you’d have told me then that it would be a story I’d end up publishing two and a half years later, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. In fact, I can confidently say I wouldn’t.
However, it’s true, and I’m equal parts excited and terrified to share that I’ll be publishing my debut novel, Buried By Sunset, on August 31, 2023.
For a long time, horror created by others; books, movies, TV shows, games has enriched my life, both fuelling and challenging my view of the world. I’ll continue talking about those works here, because they’re important, but I’m also ready to add my own story to the mix.
In the months I’ve spent putting the project together, I’ve realised that the creation of a book is so much more than just writing, and there are more moving parts than I ever imagined. But I’m learning, I’m staying in motion, and really that’s all that matters.
Inspired by the supernatural and elements that define the Southern Gothic, Buried By Sunset is a sweltering small-town horror set in the desert.
It has a cover, designed by the super talented Matthew Revert:
And a blurb:
When Randall Stanford arrives at the house his father left him, he raises Thornfold’s population from 70 to 71.
For residents, it’s unexpected, reigniting rumors about how the man who lived there disappeared, and why someone looking like him is back.
Pushed to uncover what happened to a father he never met, Randall finds himself entangled in the lives of people who don’t take kindly to strangers, and the sinister secret of a desert town teetering on the edge of extinction.
Pre-orders for Kindle are available now. If you like the smell of paper and enjoy your stories physical, paperbacks will also be available. More details on that soon.
I’ll be sharing a lot more about Buried By Sunset in the coming weeks. In the meantime, know I can’t wait for you to read it.
Before you go
I live in other corners of the internet. I attempt to keep an Instagram updated and tweet every now and then.
